40 Think Tanks in BriefIDSC highlightsDeclaring the New Administrative Capital as the Arab Capital for Intellectual Property for the Year 2024On December 1, 2024, the celebration of the Arab Day for Intellectual Property was held in the New Administrative Capital, organized in partnership between the Arab Union for the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights and the Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC), under the auspices of the Council of Arab Economic Unity of the League of Arab States. The celebration, held under the title \Property Rights in Promoting the Economic Development of Arab Countries\representatives of international and regional organizations, public and private institutions, and bodies concerned with issues of protecting intellectual property rights. During the ceremony, the New Administrative Capital was declared the Arab Capital of Intellectual Property for this year, where Eng. Khaled Abbas, Chairman and Managing Director of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development, received the intellectual property patent certificate and the Intellectual Property Capital Award for 2024 from Dr. Osama Al-Bitar, SecretaryGeneral of the Arab Union for the Protection of IP Rights. The Arab Day for Intellectual Property was also announced through the recommendation issued by the Council of Ministers of Arab Economy, Industry, and Financial Trade at the Council of Arab Economic Unity in 2023, to be celebrated on December 1 of each year. It is worth noting that the celebration activities witnessed the signing of several memorandums of cooperation, including a memorandum of understanding between the IDSC and the Arab Union for the Protection of IP Rights. It includes an agreement to cooperate in many common fields, most notably the exchange of experiences and conducting scientific research in areas of common interest, as well as the establishment and organization of scientific and research events with the participation of experts from both parties, in addition to cooperation in the training and the exchange of publications of the two sides.
