Therefore, we explain climate change, its causes, consequences, and the impact of the carbon footprint on us. BY: : DR. Nashwa AbdelnabyResearcher at Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC)Climate change is defined as a phenomenon involving sharp and prolonged changes in weather patterns, which are unusual. These changes affect temperature increases and rainfall levels, leading to rising sea levels, melting ice, severe storms, and periods of drought. Climate change affects the entire world, especially the Middle East and North Africa, island populations, and developing countries. Many are eager to understand what climate change is and how the carbon footprint impacts us.The main cause of climate change is natural changes, which occur due to variations in volcanic activity and the solar cycle. However, human activities, which began with the Industrial Revolution in the mid20th century, have contributed to increasing climate changes due to greenhouse gas emissions. These emissions have led to global warming, where the impact of global warming is faster and more intense than natural changes.Human activities contribute to increasing the Earth's atmosphere and surface temperature. Among the most significant activities causing global warming is burning fossil fuels (oil, coal, and gas), which produce greenhouse gases such as methane and carbon dioxide. These gases trap heat emitted
